Next-generation Hyundai Grandeur concept car
The Hyundai Grandeur is not one of the first Hyundai models to come to mind when thinking about electric cars, especially not when you're thinking about the Grandeur EV price. Renamed the Azera in North America, the Grandeur is the brand's top-tier sedan, and it represented Hyundai's entry into the luxury-leaning market in the United States. It came originally with an inline-four or a V6 engine, but the company recently introduced an all-electric version of the vehicle. Although Hyundai hasn't disclosed the number of electric motors in the vehicle, it's likely to be a derivative of the Ioniq EV.
Hyundai's Grandeur has been South Korea's king of luxury sedans for nearly half a century, and its EV powertrain will likely help it to remain at the top of the market. The company hopes that the electrified Grandeur will make its debut in showrooms before long, given the high demand for four-door sedans in the country.
Concept car's design
The Hyundai Grandeur concept car's design is reminiscent of a boxy SUV. It features a grid of LED lights, a squared-off front end, and a new eggcrate grille with silver side molding. The interior is dominated by premium leather and wood trim. The concept car's powertrain is all electric, with a battery and motor.
Although this concept car is an electric vehicle, it looks a lot like a retro muscle car. Its boxy shape harkens back to the 1986 Hyundai Grandeur. Hyundai completed the project in just eight months. Though the car's design is similar to the '80s version, it's redesigned with a more modern grille, mirrors, and moldings. While the company didn't reveal any details about the interior, it's clear that the company wanted to create a car that would look more like a character in a movie. The wheels are one-piece alloys.
Its interior
The interior of the Hyundai Grandeur EV has been redesigned by Hyundai Motor's in-house design team. While the car retains the familiar boxy proportions, the styling team has emphasized changes on the inside. The Grandeur's grille, door handles, moldings, and side mirrors have all been restyled, and the headlights now have LED pixel-like clusters.
The Grandeur's interior features a large cigar holder and a hidden compartment for valuables. Its giant gear selector also houses speakers hidden inside a bronze-colored light feature. In addition to reimagining the Grandeur's interior, Hyundai also released an electrified version of its Pony hatchback, which was first sold in 1975. The Pony also featured Hyundai's signature pixelated lights.
Its price
Hyundai has not revealed the price of the new grandeur EV yet, but it is expected to be at least $50,000. While the Grandeur EV will be sold globally, it will likely focus on the existing markets where the company already has a presence. It is also not known how many trim levels will be available at launch. As with any new model, the price will likely be determined by the features and specifications, as well as by comparisons with current hybrid or ICE models.
The Grandeur was not sold outside of South Korea, but it was very popular in the country. It was the flagship model of the Hyundai lineup, and became a status symbol. Many business leaders and politicians have used the Grandeur.
